The 2020 Awards are now closed for entries

Entries for the 2020 Sandford St Martin broadcasting awards needed to be submitted by 5pm on Friday 31st January 2020.

The 2021 Awards will open for entries in November 2020.

These awards recognise broadcast content that explores religious, ethical or moral themes.  Please read the criteria and carefully select the category before you submit your entry.  Programmes or content that do not meet the criteria should not enter and, if you’ve chosen the wrong category, we may not be able to move your programme.

If you have any queries please contact

To be eligible for the 2021 Awards, entries need to have been first broadcast/published between 1 January and 31 December 2020.

You may enter either:

  • a stand-alone programme,
  • a maximum of two separate episodes from a longer series or strand (each episode will be judged as a separate and single entry), or,
  • a full series (send us one representative episode and a synopsis of the full series).  Please note: the option of entering a series is aimed at encouraging dramas or other content with an ongoing narrative or an overarching thesis, stretched over a number of episodes.  Before you enter a long-running strand, please consider whether the innovation, overall ambition and distinctiveness of your entry will make it stand out in a crowded field of entries.)

Is your programme or series eligible?  Use our 2020 eligibility criteria as a guide.   Updated criteria will be published when the 2021 awards open for entries.

How to enter

Radio and TV entries should be submitted electronically where possible – either as a downloadable electronic file via ftp, a file posted to us on a USB stick, or, via a password-protected link to your content on a media streaming site such as Vimeo, WeTransfer, SoundCloud etc.

Please ensure all digital files are clearly named and that the name on the digital file matches the name of your programme on your entry form.

Please note: Do not send us links to content on platforms like iPlayer,  ALL4 or similar if there is a built-in expiry-date.  Instead, please submit a complete audio/video file of your programme(s).

Prior to sending us any media files refer to our technical requirements.  These can be downloaded here.
